The part fact, part fiction, Zoot Suit (1981, United States 103 minutes), is a film adaptation of Luis Valdez’ critically acclaimed play and is based on the actual Sleepy Lagoon murder case and the Zoot Suit Riots of the 1940’s in Los Angeles. A stylized musical about the arrest of Chicano gang members, results in a controversial trial and the fight to correct the blatant racially motivated miscarriage of justice. English with Spanish subtitles. This important film, directed by Luis Valdez, will show Friday, October 19, 2007, 7pm on the SRJC Petaluma Campus, Room 191
