Sugar Skulls decorate an altar |
Workshops will be held to educate the community about some of the traditional ways of celebrating the Day of the Dead, including making Sugar Skulls to eat and use to decorate the altars and Mask Making.
The time from October 31st to November 2nd in Latin cultures is the time to remember the spirit of departed loved ones. It is a joyous time with whimsical practices like making sugar skulls that mock death. Participants will create their own Sugar Skulls.
Masks are often a colorful part of traditional Day of the Dead processions. In preparation for Petaluma's traditional Day of the Dead Procession, a mask making workshop will offered. (the procession will be held on Friday, November 2, see schedule of events)
