Come celebrate El Dia de Los Muertos, The Day of the Dead, at a special artist's reception at Pelican Art Gallery and Custom Framing, 143 Petaluma Boulevard North, from 5 to 7pm on Friday, October 19, 2007. Petaluma photographer and writer Sue Capella will be on hand to share the story behind the Gallery's first Day of the Dead altar, which features her photographs of angels and is inspired by the poetry of Persian poet Hafiz.

At this time of remembering and honoring our loved ones who have died, Pelican Art Gallery's altar celebrates the amazing light in all beings—those who have passed on and those with whom we share our days as well as the light within ourselves.

Visitors are invited to bring a photograph or rendering of a loved one they have lost to place on the Gallery's public altar (photographs of special animals who have passed on are welcome as well). Both altars will be displayed through Saturday, November 3, 2007.
