El
Dia de los Muertos, Petaluma
Every year, The Petaluma Arts Council organizes and co-sponsors the annual El Dia de los Muertos Petaluma (Day of the Dead) festival in mid-October through early November. To celebrate this well-loved cultural holiday, artwork and altars are exhibited throughout the city by more than a dozen participating local businesses. Other events include storytelling, folkloric dance, a concert of traditional Mexican music, film and community workshops.

The Petaluma Arts Council envisions a city with successful and engaging public spaces, where residents and visitors alike will encounter works of art that will surprise and delight them. We envision a city with artwork of art that celebrates the diversity and history of our community while pointing to the city's aspiration for the future. The public art committee is currently working to bring this vision to Petaluma, beginning with the passage of the Public Art Ordinance. More info and updates>

The Arts Council's Art Paths Project envisions an integrated system of art paths that incorporate public art, landscaping, and artistic design features along select multi-use trails. These paths will contribute to the introduction of art into the public realm, highlight beauty in functionality, create an imaginative tourist attraction, and encourage more human-based transportation in Petaluma. more info>
