Petaluma Arts Center Feasibility Study
Wednesday, October 5, 2005 7pm
Community Room, Petaluma Public Library
100 Fairgrounds Drive, Petaluma, CA

We are pleased to announce the completion of the Petaluma Arts Center Feasibility Study, commissioned by the Petaluma Arts Council in 2004. A public meeting to discuss the findings of the study will be held October 5, 2005 7pm at the Library. Please join us to hear more about this exciting development!

After nearly a year of research, interviews, and study, the Petaluma Arts Council will release the results of a study designed to determine community support for a visual arts center in Petaluma.

AMS Planning & Research, a national arts management consulting practice was retained to conduct a feasibility study for a visual arts center project in Petaluma. The study includes an analysis of interest among the arts, education and business communities, assessment of market potential and research into program opportunities.

Based on the research, a facility description was prepared and financial estimates made for development and operation. Market analysis suggests there is a strong opportunity for a venue in downtown Petaluma offering visual arts activities. Local artists have indicated strong interest in places to work, exhibit, and teach, expressing strong support for a visual arts center. The leadership of the Petaluma Arts Council has strong commitment to the project and considerable community support.

Based on the past successes of the Petaluma Arts Council with the Public Art initiative, Art Around Town, Day of the Dead and other programs over the past two years, it would appear that the Board and community can turn this support into a successful Arts Center project.

Members of the community are invited to attend the public meeting and to participate in a discussion of the findings.
