In the Fall of 2007, the Petaluma Arts Council received a gift of $265,000 from the GK Hardt trust specifically slated for capital improvements towards the Petaluma Arts Center. This gift comes from the estate of former Santa Rosa car dealer and land investor G. K. Hardt, managed by co-trustees Exchange Bank and Gladys Bates. The main gallery at the Art Center will be named in his honor. The GK Hardt gift will be used towards a matching, two-for-one, $1 million challenge grant the Petaluma Arts Council previously received anonymously for capital, operations, and an endowment to sustain the Petaluma Arts Center. To date, Petaluma Arts Council has raised $345,000 toward the required $500,000 match

We are well on our way, but still need $150,000 to make our challenge match. As a community member and supporter of the arts, you can make a significant difference right now by contributing during this fundraising effort. In the Fall of 2005 a preliminary planning study was completed by AMS Planning & Research and presented to the public on October 5, 2005.

With the advent of the Art Center, we will have a new focal point for art and the arts community, providing a hub for our programs throughout the town. Our Art Around Town and Public Art programs will continue to flourish, expand and enhance our quality of everyday life.
